I worked on the backend and frontend (although I was not responsibly for the graphic design) of bookculture.com from 2010-present. I was very limited by the site host, and we could not change site host since we needed the bookstore functionality. It was Drupal 7 based, but we weren't allowed to add modules, custom PHP, or custom Javascript. Given those restrictions, I still managed to implement a lot of features using just Views and CSS.
